last night my dreams made a self-declaration that it would be opposite day. and opposite day it was. all that I thought was what my subconscious mind wanted, was outlined on the basis that my heart was otherwise, with someone else. so what exactly, do I really want? because when you came running to me with open arms, I embraced you, but my mind was on someone else. someone who actually existed in my real world. someone who was not you. and for that, I realized that I am actually happy where I am in the real world.

Imagine getting to go on a nice getaway at this place! It’s really pricey and I would dare to dream if I made a couple of thousand bucks per week or something. This would be the place where my spare cash would go; or better yet, turning it into a holiday home. ka-ching $$.

last night, it was as if you walked into my thoughts knowing that all I wanted was a nice long dream that was filled with love and no drama. I’ve had enough of those type of nights. I was on some tour bus like the one I was on when I went to watch that Spanish dance in the small little cave houses. The bus was making sharp turns and the driver was shouting at little kids that refused to take their play dates elsewhere. With each increasing moment, with no idea where I was or why I was there, the street lights started to flicker according to our song. I assumed it was our song cause it was somehow familiar and my heart grew more excited. I finally reached this open grass area and there you were, picnic mats laid out, sleeping bags at the ready, and the stars were just brilliant. Then you took my hand and proposed to me. And every inch in my body managed to pull a weak smile. I woke up, smiling, just as I was in the dream. I guess I never got to answer you in that perfect proposal.

I am somehow excited that it’s Friday. In fact, I was so excited that even though I was kinda awake before 9am, I decided to give myself another 3 hours to sleep. And I’ve been up for the past 40 mins and I’m loading the final episode of Grey’s now! (: Then while it loads, I’ll cook lunch and then enjoy lunch, and Grey’s (: have a good weekend people!

I’ve become accustomed to you appearing in my dreams. It’s almost as if you’re no longer a stranger. Last night, I dreamt that we could talk as if we had moved on from the past and we were happy with where we are now. I asked questions about why here of all places, and you answered politely; something to do with family being here. There was no screaming, shouting, crying, accusations, and impatience. It was really like I got you back in the form of what we were before we were together. I lost you a long time ago and it seemed so unreal that I got you back. And it was unreal, because in a split second, just when I was about t0 realized that this was all going too well, I woke up. And all I can remember is wanting to talk to you like we used to.

Dearest Mummy,

If I were next to you right now I would tell you, countless times, how much I love you. I remember the nights were you returned after dinner, armed with heavy files and paperwork, and even though you were tired you still found the energy to tuck us in, tell us a story, and pat us to sleep. I remember the Sunday mornings where we’d walk to the market where you’d us a nice hearty breakfast at Macs while you went to run the errands. I also remember how I have never been caned in my life; but I was never the ‘spare the rod and spoil the child’, type of child. Yes I was whacked and disciplined, but even after the scolding and the screaming and the tears, I always came back to you. Not once have you turned away from me. And not once have you ridiculed at how I could never wear my skirt right, or how I wanted to learn how to put on make-up like you did. You have shown your undying support in the things I wanted to do. From the time I wanted to be a brownie (you bought all the uniforms, badges, cookies, etc), to the time I wanted to play the piano, play badminton, and the touch rugby and the other leadership positions like class monitor, prefect, student councillor and captain. I think about all the time spent driving me to tuition, school, training grounds, parties, friends’ places; I remember how you always managed to find time to do all that for M and I. The holidays you bring us, every. single. year. I have seen amazing places because of you. And the presents you would spoil us with. Even when we didn’t work hard enough or get the results you wanted. You still rewarded us. You always wanted to give us the best. And you did, Mum. You have given everything; and you continue to do so. I know that you have disapproved of things I have done, and some decisions I have made. Sometimes I wish I was a better daughter. I have never seen you and Dad more proud when we were at my high school graduation. That was one of the best moments of my life spent with you. And you know what, I can’t wait til’ I graduate, because I want to make you proud again. and again. and again. Maybe, just maybe, by making you proud, I will be able to make up for the weaknesses or bad decisions I have made. You are one of my hugest role models in my life, Mum. And to seek to be half as perfect as you, is something I would probably not achieve in my lifetime. I wish that you have an extra special day today. Although one day is not enough show my appreciation for the amount of love that you have showered me with, my love cup for you is overflowing. And I know, that I will always, always, always, be your little girl. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you. ♥
